I know that this assignment was supposed to about our lives and the world we see, but I can’t do that. I know many people can write about how their lives suck and how they couldn’t find the right pair of shoes or how their parents are so unfair. They can talk about how they see the world as a peaceful place, but they are lying about the world that they live in; trying to hide behind the illusion of the perfect place they want to live in. As I said before, I’m not going to write about my life or the world I see. I can tell you my world is reality. I live in a world where wars break out and brothers turn against brothers. I’m not going to lie about my world, but this assignment isn’t about me: it’s about my family and how they see the world.
The first person is my older brother Adam King. People say he looks like a thug with his shaggy brown hair, and tattoo that reads “hope” on the inside of his right forearm. People judge him by what he looks like instead of his character. They don’t understand that he is an orphan and works three jobs just to pay bills around our small apartment. He is only nineteen, but he does everything in his power to make sure we have enough to live the life we do. The world that he sees is the one where man uses power to control the things he wants.
The second person is my older sister Jasmine White: a confident girl who doesn’t care about what people say. They say she could be a super model if it wasn’t for the nasty scar that lies under her right eye. She always says that the scar is a reminder of her strength to live in this world. Even though she smiles all the time to show that she is alright, the pain she has drifts in her sea blue eyes. She is an orphan too and yet she takes everything the way it is. She sees the world as a place where man judges beauty on the way someone else looks and not by the beauty that lies within.
Next person, or should I say people, that I’m going to take about are my twin brothers, Leo and Luke Jackson. Leo works three jobs with Adam and can come off as a player while his twin brother Luke works two jobs with me and is the shy nerdy type. Even though they are both different they act the same, they both care about everyone in our family and hate the war that we are currently fighting. They protect me from people that try to hurt me. People think they are trying to win me over so that they can date me, but they don’t understand that I’m the youngest of our little family and they are trying to keep me safe. They are also orphans and don’t like to talk about it. Leo sees the world as a place that men with power don’t do anything and let innocent people die, while Luke sees the world as a dark place with little flicker of hope.
The last person I want to talk about is my sister Crystal Black. She is an outstanding student, works hard not only in school but in the two jobs she works. She is the only family that I have and I’m glad that she is still here. She and I are orphans and there is nothing we can do about it, but to go on with life. She is the mother in our little family. She is quiet and reserved most of the time, but she is caring and fun as well. From her eyes she sees the world as a place where only her family exists and a place where nothing else matters besides family.
Even though I didn’t write this according to the assignment, I still however talked about someone’s life and how they see the world. My family isn’t the greatest and sure we don’t all have the same last name, and with all of us being orphans, we are still a family that helps each other out. Granted we all see the world differently, we can still agree the world is a cruel place.
